Yankel Ginzburg (b. 1945)

Yankel Ginzburg was born Yuri Zhukov to Russian Army officers in Alma-Alta, the capital of the Kazakhstan Republic. At age 9, Ginzburg learned of his jewish history just shortly before his family escaped to Israel in 1957 where he spent the remainder of his young adult life. Ginzburg graduated from the Tel Aviv Academy of Art in 1964. He immediately began producing and selling art following graduation and became well known around Israel. He was then invited to work in the United States. Today he lives in both the U.S. and Israel and travels back and forth working on commissions and gallery showings. Ginzburg is known as an innovator who has developed a number of techniques.
