Stephen Cornelius Roberts (b. 1952)

Stephen Roberts’ work has been exhibited across the nation. In 2002, Roberts’ drawings appeared in the Frye Art Museum in Seattle, Washington; the New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, Connecticut; and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha, Nebraska. His work also was shown recently at the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney, the Seventh Regiment Armory in New York and a Navy Pier exposition in Chicago.

Roberts has completed murals as public commissions for the Nebraska State Capitol and Donald Othmer Hall at the Univeristy of Nebraska-Lincoln, to name a few. His murals and paintings in the Capitol appear in the Memorial Chamber, near the front interior entrance. The two paintings are 8 feet by 6 feet, and the murals are 6 feet, 9 inches by 12 feet. The murals are dedicated to military and civilian service.

Roberts earned his bachelor’s degree in 1976 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. In 1991, the Nebraska Arts Council awarded him the Visual Arts Individual Artist Fellowship Master Award.
