Kirk Pedersen
Kirk Pederson (b. 1959)
“Out of this exploration comes his landscapes, fragments of the urban world which have been eroded by conditions natural to a city. The concrete curbing is cracked, paint on pavement is worn by weather and traffic; occasionally, intrusions of the natural world appear: water pools in a street, grass penetrates concrete.”—Donald Bartlett Doe, Director of Rockford Art Museum
Born in Broken Bow, Nebraska, Kirk Pedersen now resides in California. Pedersen’s works are a study in contrasts. His subject matter ranges from botanical to urban to rural; his style ranging from abstract to photo realistic. He depends on a mix of chance and method to create a unique viewing experience for his audience.
Pedersen earned his BFA from Midland College in Nebraska, and his MFA from San Francisco University. He now works as a full-time professor of art and the art department chair at Mt. San Antonio College.
