Alexander A. Blum (1888 – 1969)
Alexander Blum studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Art Students’ League of New York. He worked as a painter, etcher and illustrator. In his early career, most of etchings were architectural view of major American cities. In the 30s, he began focusing more on figure studies and decorative compositions. This new focus led Blum to work almost exclusively in the illustrative arts after 1940. An extensive collection of his work can be found at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
